Hi, I'm Jacquelyn...

At all the important intervals my life, there has always some form of art to mark it. Whether it be music, film, a great piece of literature, or a painting displayed at an art gallery, art has always moved me in everything I do.

From a very young age, I have been involved in learning different skills in the field of arts. One of my greatest joys as a child came from creating, it didn't matter if I was creating a new story so that I could dress up and play it out with my friends, or painting some flowers to show my parents; art made me happy no matter where I went. And since it was in my nature, I also decided at a young age that I wanted my happiness to come from what I do with art.

I attended the University of British Columbia as an English Language Major for 3 years, during that time I found my time seeking out different ways to be involved in music. I was privately trained by a classical vocal coach for 4 years. Once I became more involved in Vancouver's Chinese Entertainment Industry, I sought out a contemporary singing teacher who I have been with for the past 3 years. Both of these individuals were great influences in my life, teaching me that art was very honest and was a way I naturally showed myself to the world. I began spending the majority of my time on musical endeavours and not long after, I decided to enroll in Pacific Audio Visual Institute for a 1 year program in Audio Engineering.

I learned a lot in my time in the music industry and did well enough that before graduation even came, I had several opportunities waiting for me. I spent a little bit of time working at one of Vancouver's great music studios under the guidance of a former instructor. During this time I decided that my interests went beyond music (although it remains my passion), it was also in multi-media and the way media is evolving in the world. Not only that, but the importance of media in our everyday lives really made an impact on me as I spent more time researching the field. I discovered and decided to enroll in the New Media & Web Development Program at the British Columbia's Institute of Technology.

My time in the program has shown me even more outlets for sharing art with the world, and so I'm excited to expand a career in a related field. I am currently in the 2nd semester of my program and I have discovered yet another great interest in Information Architecture. My hobbies include music, literature, fashion, and makeup. These are all things that influence my work in the New Media world, and can be seen in some of the samples of my portfolio.
